West Ham United are still struggling to raise funds in order for David Moyes to finally be able to re-invest some of the money back into the squad. The 2019/20 season has been a rather poor one for the Hammers but they are looking to turn things around.
Still, the biggest issue is money. At the moment, even though they have managed to secure their stay in the Premier League, the current climate has emptied their register.
This means that significant cuts will have to be made if the team is to be improved in any way. Now, according to a new report from The Mirror, Moyes is ready to sacrifice Felipe Anderson and has even offered the wantaway star to Arsenal.
The same source explains that the Brazilian midfielder has largely failed to impress the right people and the Hammers are looking to seal a £5m loan deal to the Emirates.
With just one goal and four assists across the previous Premier League campaign, the 27-year-old has flattered to deceive and parting ways would be in both parties’ best interest.
Getting him for a cut-price is something Mikel Arteta could also be interested in.
However, it’s still unclear how the clubs would go about paying his reported £140,000-a-week wages and what percentage each side would pay towards his salary.
But at the moment, the only thing that matters for West Ham is that they successfully offload him in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The rebuild is underway and it will require some serious sacrifices.
Verdict
It goes without saying that Anderson hasn’t exactly enjoyed the most lucrative of stays at West Ham. For that reason, the possible transfer away could be a fresh start he’s yearning for.
Not to mention that it would also help the club in the quest to successfully revamp the team.
