It was supposed to be a tweet dedicated to former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski, who celebrated his 32nd birthday on June 4.
Instead, the post on Arsenal’s official Twitter account brought a fierce response from supporters demanding that the club announce a double signing in the coming days.
It is expected to be a busy summer for the Gunners as they look to forget what was a poor 2016-17 season, and it has been reported that Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac will arrive at the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer before the start of the new campaign.
A deal for AS Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe is more complicated, although it is being claimed that the Gunners will make a £95m move for the France international, who has also been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid, over the next week.
Arsenal fans are absolutely desperate for their club to splash the cash this summer, and they made their feelings clear in response to a tweet that was aimed towards their former forward Podolski.
