Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Jannik Vestergaard’s wonderful performance against Arsenal, after the great Dane played a pivotal role in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first win as Saints boss.
The game against the Gunners was the new man’s first at St Mary’s, and the 26-year-old centre-back must’ve been keen to put on a show for his new gaffer.
Vestergaard, who signed for £18m from Borussia Monchengladbach back in the summer, has been heavily criticised for a lot of his showings so far this season, although it appears that Mark Hughes simply wasn’t getting through to him after his immediate improvement under Hasenhuttl.
The Southampton fans perhaps weren’t expecting much from this game against Unai Emery’s men, who were on a 22-game unbeaten run, although they received an early Christmas present in the shape of three unlikely points and a masterclass performance from their 6′ 6″ colossus.
