Everton slumped to their second Premier League defeat in three games on Saturday as newly-promoted Wolves cruised to a 3-1 victory at Goodison Park.
The Toffees produced a poor performance and received the defeat they deserved. Theo Walcott was amongst the Everton players to disappoint the most, as the attacker failed to make the most of a number of promising attacking situations.
On the chalkboard
The 29-year-old started on the right wing but could not exert any pressure on the Wolves wing-back ahead of him, Jonny Castro. Marco Silva will have wanted the 47-cap England international to pin him back with his pace and attacking threat.

Instead, Walcott couldn’t effectively perform his defensive or offensive duties, and Jonny was given the freedom of the flank to repeatedly surge forward into the final third and cause the home side problems.
This inability to impose himself on the game has typified the wide man’s form so far this season, and was likely a factor in Arsenal’s decision to sell the forward to the Merseyside club in January 2018 for a fee of around £20 million, as reported by the BBC.
Bad end of the deal
Everton may now be feeling shortchanged, as despite all the top level experience he accrued during his 12 years with the Gunners, Walcott is yet to live up to his price tag at Goodison Park.
Over a year on from his switch to north London, and Arsenal certainly look to have gotten the better end of that deal.
