French media outlet Le10Sport reported last month that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti was keen to bring Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne with him to Goodison Park.
The Italian was named as Marco Silva’s successor on Merseyside last month, and the predictable links with players from the Serie A outfit has followed, including the Italy international.
The fact that the Toffees have scored 24 goals in their 21 Premier League matches this term suggests that things aren’t completely right in attack for them, and someone like Insigne would undoubtedly add some quality to their frontline given he has scored 81 goals and provided a further 72 assists in 325 outings for the Naples outfit.
The latest of those 325 appearances came in the disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Juventus on Monday, although the 28-year-old captain was one of their more impressive performers on the night.
The attacker showed his willingness to get a shot away by having seven against Antonio Conte’s men, as per WhoScored, although just the two were on target while he hit the woodwork with another effort.
In addition he made five key passes in the 90 minutes and successfully completed three dribbles, while he had an impressive passing accuracy of 91.5%.
Insigne couldn’t lead the hosts to victory, but he still would have left a lasting impression on any scouts present.
It remains to be seen whether Everton are really interested or not, but what is clear is that he would be the complete opposite to Moise Kean when the youngster signed from Juventus during the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old arrived at Goodison Park relatively raw and having made a positive impression for Juve, scoring eight goals albeit in just 21 senior games.
That shows the lack of experience the teenager has, and he has no goals and one assist in 20 outings for the Toffees to date having only started five times all season under Marco Silva, Duncan Ferguson and now Ancelotti.
That is where Insigne is different.

He isn’t a young player who could become great like Kean, he is already a proven one at the highest level of the game, as shown by his 10 goals in 28 Champions League games. He will make a difference for Everton right now as he showed when he was a thorn in the side of Inter on Monday.
Rather than be on the periphery of the action like Kean sometimes has been, the 28-year-old is at the forefront of everything and showed this week that he can both shoot and create.
If Ancelotti could get him, he would be laughing.
