Barcelona moved into the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic for the start of the 2023/24 season while Camp Nou was undergoing a £1.25 billion (€1.5bn) renovation. The Blaugrana had hoped to move back into their iconic ground in 2024, then before the end of this season, but now Relevo states it will be October 2025 at the earliest. They add that there is a possibility they may not even return until January 2026.

Barcelona have been in dire financial straits for some time now and the longer the Camp Nou stadium refurbishment continues, the longer they will miss out on the extra revenue a 105,000-seater ground can provide. Currently, Hansi Flick's team tend to play in front of no more than 55,000 fans, so they are missing out on a big financial reward.
