Manchester United have offered emotional support to winger Amad Diallo after he was subjected to sickening online abuse. Amad took a picture with former team-mate Alejandro Garnacho after United beat Chelsea at Old Trafford, leading to a fan backlash.
Amad's photo sparks controversy
Amad was bombarded with online abuse after posting a photograph alongside former United winger Garnacho, who departed the club in the summer. Amad held Garnacho's blue shirt, while the Argentine held Amad's red kit, sparking controversy among the Old Trafford fanbase.

In response to the abuse, Amad deleted every post on his Instagram account, and United made sure to check on his mental state on Monday. A source told The Sun that Amad is "okay" but also claim that the upload of the photo was "naive".
A deeper connection
Amad and Garnacho share an agency and are said to have grown close through their time at Old Trafford. The latter, however, left for Chelsea in a £40 million ($54m) deal in the summer.

Amad has made five Premier League appearances this season, laying on one assist, but Garnacho has, thus far, only played once in the top-flight for Chelsea after being a part of Ruben Amorim's 'bomb squad' at Old Trafford.
